The Northern Colorado chapter of CWF had its first meeting of 2012. Continued enthu- siasm is bringing back familiar faces and some new faces too. We had 19 members and at least three new faces that we hope will become members.
Kyle Stack, a guide with St. Peters Fly Shop gave a very informative presentation on his top ten winter fishing tips. There were many excellent questions from the audience and some women who are very “psyched” to get out on the river this winter. Brrrrrrr.
Kathleen Sullivan Bailey gave an engaging and heart-felt presentation about Colorado’s Casting For Recovery organization. There was much interest from the ladies about sup- porting this organization in any way we can. Kathleen will keep us updated on local pro- grams and will send a representative to our next meeting. She also wants to join CWF!
Beth Serniak and Gretchen Osborn gave an update from the Fly Fishing Show and ISE held this past weekend. We discussed our interaction with the Denver CWF ladies. Fran Sturgis asked about the possibility of a day trip to the Poudre on April 21st, and the North- ern Colorado ladies are excited to have a trip in our neck of the woods. Hopefully the Board will approve it.
Beth and Gretchen also talked to the Healing Waters organization and presented that infor- mation to the group, to consider becoming involved in helping our returning veterans.
Future talks suggested: fly-tying basics, lake fishing, fly lines. Julia Houx has volunteered to arrange the talks and has a long list of possibilities.
Our February Meeting meeting will be At PVH Harmony Campus at the SE corner of Harmony and Timberline. We are meeting on the 3rd floor (enter the door with the big “A” over it) go up the elevator, turn left out of elevator, down the hall and we are across from the Allergy office. It is our “Not Christmas Christmas Party”. 6:30 pm. Bring 2 flies and a snack to share.
