Stagecoach State Park, Steamboat Springs

June 1 - June 3

Are you new to the club or needing a little extra help to get started?  Look for “Buddy Here!” in the attendee list above. Reach out directly to Buddies to  coordinate. We can’t guarantee that CWF Buddy Volunteers will always be available on a trip but we’ll try!

From Steamboat Springs
Travel east on U.S. 40, then south on Colorado 131 for five miles to Routt County Road 14. Drive six miles south on County Road 14 to the park entrance.

North from I-70: Take the Wolcott Exit onto HWY 131 for 50 miles, turn right on County Road 14 for 6 miles.
Meet Time/Location:

I'm in site 58, Pinnacle Loop. There is limited cell reception at Stagecoach, but texts do sometimes go through. It will be best to plan on meeting at the Chuck Lewis (see below) at 9am to make firm plans with members.
Trip Details:

On Tuesday we will meet at the Chuck Lewis area at 9AM. Members will be coming from both town and the Stagecoach State Park, so this seems to be a good midpoint. The link for the area is:

We can fish this area, and make additional plans.

Wednesday morning we will try out our kayaks, float tubes or shore fishing at Stagecoach. Wes had said the winds pick up late morning, so probably best to get out early. Lets try some of the cove around my campsite, Pinnacle #58. No set time to gather, just get out and look for us when you want. Wednesday afternoon options are to try the fishing in town. Wes had mentioned the fishing in the river through town was good across from the shop, we can try that stretch. Again, the name of the shop is Steamboat Flyfishers, located on Street between 5th and 6th.

Another option for Wednesday afternoon could be Pearl Lake for grayling. I've never caught a grayling, could be very fun!.

Wednesday evening from 5-7PM is the picnic at the Howelsen Shelter at the Beach. The address is 840 Howelsen Parkway, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487. The picnic is open to all, bring your own food, drink and a chair. I believe we will be selling raffle tickets at the picnic.

Thursday seems to be the day to float the river with Steamboat Flyfishers. There were a few boats left when I checked the other day, give them a call to arrange for a boat. Be sure to mention you are with CWF so everyone floats together.

There is a Marina at Stagecoach State Park to rent a variety of boats if you choose, this is another great way to fish the area.

The Marina, located at the north end of the park, provides rentals for pontoon boats, fishing boats, canoes, stand up paddle boards and paddle boats. During the summer season, the Marina is open Memorial Weekend through Labor Day weekend. Boat rentals will be available by reservation with a minimum 4 hour rental. For boat reservations call (970) 736-8342.

Stagecoach State Park, try to get reservations in the Pinnacle Loop. I'm in site 58
